Former governor of old Kaduna state is dead

Former governor of old Kaduna state and one of the Northern region prominent politician, Alhaji Lawal Kaita, is dead. Late Kaita died last Tuesday evening at the Turkish Hospital in Abuja, after a protracted illness. A family source who pleaded anonymity said that the elder statesman had been battling with his health. Kaita who defeated the ruling Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in the 1983 election under the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) was regarded as a consummate politician. As at the time of filing this report, preparations are on top gear to convey his corpse to his home state Katsina for burial.

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator PDP At Your Door Campaign Forum, Comrade Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani has expressed sadness over the death of former Governor of the old Kaduna State, Alhaji Lawal Kaita, saying Nigeria has lost a patriotic son who contributed immensely to the development of contemporary politics in Nigeria.

Comrade Danfulani in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of PDP At Your Door Campaign Forum, Jacob Onjewu Dickson, described the deceased as one of the most accommodating, generous and refined politician the nation has ever produced, adding that politics will never be the same without the jocular banter of the deceased.

“Nigeria will miss the wise counsel of Alhaji Lawal Kaita. For Alhaji Lawal Kaita, politics was never a do or die affair, but a vehicle for service to the people.

“On behalf of PDP At Your Door Campaign Forum, I condole the National Secretary of our Beloved Party In person of Sen. Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, Chairman Of PDP Katsina State in person of Hon Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir Usman, good people of Kaduna State, Katsina State and the immediate family of the deceased.

“May Allah forgive all his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest, and grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss”. ENDS
