The Special Assistant to the Kaduna state governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan, has refuted insinuations that governor El-Rufai-led administration hateS journalists in the state.

Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna, he explained that the state government and security agencies have no intention to victimize reporters, but to ensure that moral conduct was observed among media practitioners.

In an attempt to separate what he calls personal grudge from journalism practice, Aruwan said: “lt’s unfortunate that some people hide under the canopy of media to express their grievances and discontent through reportage of bias and untrue stories.”

He explained that managing a state like Kaduna with about 390 districts is not an easy task, pointing that a single dose of wrong information administered to people could lead to crisis in the state.

According to him, “Kaduna government has never for once denied having security challenges, but journalsits on the other hand should ensure accurate reportage to avoid further escalation of issues on ground.”

He said in a case where a journalist is queried for publication of wrong report, such should not be attributed to El-rufai as a means of witch-hunt but should be seen as the duty of security agents trying to ensure law and order in the state.
